Only Christ Can Solve the Conflicts of Sudan!
Below is the editorial for Global Prayer Digest January 2008.
Dear Praying Friends
A couple of days ago I was reading Isaiah 11 to my son. I must admit, it is almost unfathomable to think of a day when God reigns on earth in such a way that “the wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat. . .”
What a drastic contrast that peaceful setting is with what we see in Sudan today, where Satan is killing, stealing and destroying through his servants. The atrocities and brutalities are so severe that we toned down our descriptions of them for this prayer guide.
There are so many unreached people groups in Sudan that we focused mainly on those residing in the Darfur Region and the Nuba Mountains. We also selected several Arab people groups, many of whom are responsible for the atrocities.
Contrary to popular belief, it is not entirely Muslim against Christian and Animist. Though slavery and the pursuit of oil deposits cause some of the conflicts in Sudan, most of the conflicts on which we will focus this month have to do with limited water and arable land coveted by both farming and herding people groups. Muslim as well as Christian communities are being given the “move out or perish” ultimatum, often by the Islamic Sudanese government. Pray for the Prince of Peace to reign in Sudan, and for Satan’s efforts to be defeated!
In Him,
