Update On Our Daily Bread for Mobile Phone
A number of you have expressed your disappointment with RBC Ministries since they requested this site to stop providing Our Daily Bread for free download to mobile phones. We have to respect their rights to control their copyrighted material. Instead of being upset, let’s look at this positively.
RBC is working to their own mobile web functionality. Compared to my mostly one man show with help from some friends in Indonesia and Peru, RBC would have a bigger team to brainstorm features and content that will benefit the body of Chirst worldwide. Let’s give them our support. I have volunteered to help in their mobile web functionality if they require any help.
You can also contribute by giving them suggestions on what you would like to see in their mobile functionality. Contact them at http://www.rbc.org/contact.aspx. They will value your input. There’s nothing like having those you serve provide feedback on what works and what doesn’t.
As for me, I hope they have something that will allow me to download the devotional content to my mobile phone for offline reading. Mobile phone data plans are still expensive in Malaysia. Having to read the daily devotions while connected online is going to be costly for those of us in Africa or Asia. We need a solution that is cheap and easy to use. :D
For those missing their daily bread, you can download and try out the Global Prayer Digest, Streams in the Desert or Daily in Christ mobile devotions.
On a side note, the Mobile Daily Devotions website does make some money from the Google Adsense ads displayed in the site. It’s not a lot of money and it all goes into my church building fund. The web hosting fees and domain name registration comes out from my own pocket.
That’s all for this update. God bless and have a blessed Christmas season.

Mobile Daily Devotions for December 2007 Christmas Carols on Your Mobile Phone
Elaine, Monday January 7, 2008:
Dear Victor,
I’m really sad about the RBC decision regarding your site. I do hope they understand that you had been doing this as an unpaid service to those who needed such. I’m also hoping they will decide to allow you to continue the service this year and in the coming years.
A blessed 2008 to you and your family.
Elaine
