How to Install Java Apps on Your Cell Phone, Mobile Phone or Handphone

25 Jan

How do you usually install the mobile daily devotions on your cell phone?
Do you download them directly into your cell phone from this site?
Do you download them into your PC and then transfer over to your phone?
Do you use a PC to phone cable?
Bluetooth?
Infrared?

One of the easiest way to install the mobile devotions into your phone is by downloading them from http://www.fourteenfloor.com/mobile. Just use your phone’s web browser to open the link above and click on the links under the Download section.

If you can’t download the mobile devotions to your phone directly then you’ll need to download it to your PC and transfer it to your phone. Installing a java application on your cell phone this way can be quite challenging, especially if you have never done it before. If you can’t install the mobile daily devotions on your phone, you can’t use them. So, for those of you who wants to use the mobile devotions but don’t know how to install them; I’m collecting a list guides and tutorials on this topic from the Internet just for you.

Here are the guides for Sony Ericsson, Motorola and Nokia phones that I’ve found so far.

How Many Daily Devotions Do You Read Daily?

16 Jan

But, my child, let me give you some further advice: Be careful, for writing books is endless, and much study wears you out. – Ecclesiastes 12:12 (NLT)

Here is the list of mobile daily devotions available on this site.

After trying to read all the different mobile daily devotions available on this site for the past few months, I’ve decided to just focus my attention on three of them. My choice of daily readings for this year are Daily in Christ, Global Prayer Digest and Our Daily Bread. Trying to read six daily devotions everyday was just too much for me.

Why did I choose this three daily devotions?

I chose Daily in Christ to reinforce the lessons that I learned from the Beta Course by Neil Anderson, which I attended in 2006. Global Prayer Digest reminds me that God is a God of missions. Our Daily Bread has been a staple daily devotional diet for me for many years. It also comes with the Send SMS feature that I can use to SMS an encouragement to someone easily.

Next year, I plan to start reading Prayer, Praise and Promises after finishing Daily in Christ. Prayer, Praise and Promises covers the entire 150 Psalms in a year. Spending an entire year with the Book of Psalms for my daily devotion sure sounds like an exciting journey.

What about you? Which mobile devotional series have you chosen to read for this year?

Mobile Daily Devotions on the Apple iPhone?

15 Jan

Will the new Apple iPhone be able to run mobile Java applications?

There’s no mention of Java support for the iPhone on Apple’s site. So, the outlook for Java support seems bleak. That’s just sad. The gorgeous iPhone screen would make it great device for reading mobile devotions or the Bible.

If Apple decides to open the iPhone for third party applications, Laridian should come up with something for the Apple iPhone. Laridian has excellent Bible software for the Palm,Pocket PCs, Windows Smartphones, iPods and BlackBerry devices. They are a well known and reputable mobile software company. Hopefully, Apple will allow them to develop Bible software for the Apple iPhone.

The iPhone will only be available in Asia in 2008. That’s a one year wait for me if I decide to get an iPhone as my next cell phone. A lot of things could happen within one year. Hopefully by then, Apple will have included support for mobile java applications on the iPhone and Laridian releases a Bible software for the iPhone.

Through The Year Devotionals for January

11 Jan

Finally, all the mobile devotions for January are completed and ready for downloading. You can download the Through The Year devotions for January from the Devotions by Warren Wiersbe download page.

The devotions for January is split into two java mobile applications. One for the 1st to 15th of January and another for 16th to 31st. This was done to avoid an Out of Memory error. This devotional series has much more Bible verses for daily reading in this devotional series compared to Our Daily Bread or Prayer, Praise and Promises.

Hope you’re enjoying the mobile devotions as much as I love making them available. I really need to start working on next month’s mobile devotions earlier, just to make sure the mobile apps are available on time before the start of next month. See you here again at the end of the month.
