Dear Praying Friends

This month, we will pray for people who live in a sea of monotheistic religions, where they worship one God. Some would say that the God of the Bible and Allah of the Koran are the same god, while others would disagree. No matter what their name or understanding of God may be, our purpose is to pray for those who do not follow Christ. But there is one thing upon which Christians, Jews and Muslims can agree: There is but one God. This is one step towards the cross.

Ironically, we often get more resistance in reaching out to Muslims and Jews than we do when we reach out to Hindus and Buddhists who may worship many gods. Have you ever wondered: does it really have to be this way? Read Dr. Depew’s article, and see how we can use the words of Jesus to endear the Savior to our Muslim neighbors. This may be the second step needed for Muslims to eventually embrace Christ as their Savior. If you have any friends who are Muslim or Jewish, perhaps you can use her ideas. But don’t forget to pray first! It’s the Holy Spirit who draws all peoples to Christ.

In Christ,

Keith Carey Managing Editor GPD

PS-While we put this issue together, fighting erupted between Israel and Hezbullah fighters in Lebanon. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem…and also for the peace of Beirut. – Taken from the Editorial Page of Global Prayer Digest November 2006.
