When Is Our Daily Bread Coming Out?

28 Nov

At the end of each month, many are asking or thinking;
Is it out yet?
When is it coming out?

It’ll usually take me a day to get it ready for the mobile phone, once it is out at http://rbc.gospelcom.net/odb/togo/toc.html. So, it’ll usually be about 1 day after it comes out in RBC’s website.

Here’s the 10 step process of how Our Daily Bread for mobile phone is produced.

  1. Wait for next month’s content to be available at http://rbc.gospelcom.net/odb/togo/toc.html
  2. Download the contents from the website.
  3. Download and format the month’s cover as a splash screen.
  4. Download the verses for each day from http://www.biblegateway.com.
  5. Merge the content and verses together into a single data file.
  6. Tag the SMS-able content in each daily devotion.
  7. Compile everything into a java application for mobile phone.
  8. Upload the java application to this site.
  9. Update web pages to announce release.
  10. Wait for next month and repeat.

This month’s prayer focus is on ‘North Africa and Middle East: Land of Monotheism in Many Stripes’.

Dear Praying Friends

Eastern and southern Africa is a troubled region. AIDS is a serious problem due to values in the local cultures that run deeper than the gospel. Often there is ethnic division that undermines the church’s effectiveness in being salt and light to the lost.

On the other hand, have any of you ever attended a church service in this part of the world? For many peoples there, church doesn’t begin on Sunday morning, but Saturday evening. They spend the entire night worshiping, dancing, singing, and praying. How I wish we could get our Global Prayer Digest materials to people who pray like they do! It may be that the unreached people groups in this part of the world would add to the sweet incense of intercession and worship if only they had the gospel.

It’s important that we try to see the nations with the loving eyes of God. He sees the sin, but He also sees the potential. He sees the need all peoples have for the Kingdom of God, and sends His children to offer an invitation. Will you stand beside those working in Africa by empowering their work with your prayers?

In Christ,

Streams in the Desert is a devotional compiled by Mrs. Cowman from various sermons, readings, writings, and poetry she had read over the years. The immense popularity of this book has allowed at least 19 editions of the book to be printed. The initial response to the devotional brought letters from China, Japan, Korea, Australia, Africa, and many island countries. The widespread appeal grows daily as new readers discover the joy, challenge, and inspiration found in Streams in the Desert and Mrs. Cowman’s other compilations.

Mrs. Charles E. Cowman was the wife of Rev. Charles Cowman, founder of the Oriental Missionary Society. This organization was founded by Rev. Cowman with the purpose of evangelizing and setting up native ministries in Japan, Korea, China, and Formosa. Rev. and Mrs. Cowman served for 20 years until Rev. Cowman’s failing health forced them to return to their home in California. – taken from backtothebible.org

Global Prayer Digest: Reading It On Your Mobile Phone

13 Nov

The Global Prayer Digest is a unique devotional booklet. Each day it gives a glimpse of what God is doing around the world, and what still remains to be done. Daily prayer for that still-unfinished task is at the heart of the Adopt-A-People movement. Condensed missionary stories, biblical challenges, urgent reports, and exciting descriptions of unreached peoples provide a digest of rich fuel for your own times of prayer for the world.

The Global Prayer Digest is a key tool in a movement to help fulfill Christ’s commission to make disciples of all the peoples of the earth. This movement involves a daily discipline of learning, praying, and giving to help reach the world’s nearly 9,000 ureached people groups. Unreached peoples are those groups which do not yet have a strong church in their own cultural and social setting. – Taken from global-prayer-digest.org

You can read it online using your mobile phone by surfing to Global Prayer Digest for PDA or from the http://fourteenfloor.com/mobile mobile daily devotional links page. If you prefer to download it to your mobile phone and read it offline, you can get it from Global Prayer Digest downloads.
