Interpreting The Scriptures

3 Apr

I have been attending a class on ‘Interpreting The Scriptures’ every Tuesday night in my church. It’s a 12 lesson course to learn the principles and methods of observation, interpretation and application of Scriptures.

One of the books that I’m reading for the class is How To Read the Bible For All Its Worth by Gordon Fee and Douglas Stuart. The book teaches on how to read the different genres used in the Bible and the importance of understanding the literary and historical context of Scriptures. What did the writers of Scripture meant to convey to its original audience? How we apply Scriptures into our lives should come from an understanding of the original meaning. After 8 weeks, I’m still at the second chapter ‘The Basic Tool: A Good Translation.’ :-P
